What To Expect

This day is all about exploring how the food you eat impacts your physical and mental health, while learning the art of baking as a form of Lifestyle Medicine

We will go through each stage of the process step by step and will explain about all the equipment and ingredients you will need. Let’s Demystify Sourdough

On the day we will cover some of the following topics:

Why Sourdough?
  • Gut Health
  • How food choices affect not just your health, but the planet’s health too
  • Ultra-processed foods
  • Food and Mood
  • Bread and blood sugars
  • What Sourdough bread is healthiest

What You’ll Do

  • Refresh and learn how to maintain a sourdough starter.
  • Mix, prove, and shape your dough for the perfect loaves.
  • Make your own butter and sugar-free fruit compote.
  • Enjoy a leisurely, seasonal lunch with freshly baked bread.
  • Explore our little shop with local artisan foods.
  • Relax and take in the peaceful surroundings.
  • Leave with two loaves of sourdough bread and a sense of fulfilment.

Spaces are limited—book your spot today and embark on a journey to better health through the power of sourdough!

What You'll Learn

  • The Basics of Sourdough: Learn how to make the easiest form of sourdough bread from scratch.
  • What’s a Starter?: Understand what a starter is, how it works, and how to refresh it.
  • Flour & Fermentation: Discover the benefits of wholegrains, why sourdough fermentation matters, and how to use it to improve your health.
  • Gut Health & Probiotics: Explore the role of diversity, probiotics, and blood sugar management in maintaining a healthy gut.

You’ll get hands-on with dough, refresh a starter, mix, prove, and shape your loaves, and even create your own butter and pickles to enjoy with your bread. While your bread bakes, you’ll sit down for a seasonal plant-based lunch, prepared with locally sourced ingredients (some of which may come from our own garden!)—topped off with delicious local cheeses.
